What is counselling?
Counselling is a way of addressing difficulties by talking them through with a trained professional,
who can offer you support, but is not directly involved in the situation.
A counsellor can help you to explore your thoughts & feelings indepth,
to help you find the way forward that is right for you.
What will a counsellor do?
Listen carefully to what you have to say.
Enable you to express your feelings.
Help you to explore and understand your difficulties.
Support you to try and find ways of managing these more effectively.
How does confidentiality work?
A fundamental principle of counselling that you can rely on
is that it should always be confidential.
There are a few exceptions to this but these are explained at your first session;
otherwise counselling takes place under strict conditions of confidentiality.
That means that what you discuss will be not be disclosed without your permission.
